1. Low Electric Costs

Europe and North America are seeing the price of electricity skyrocket. While different parts of Europe and the Northern Hemisphere are taking steps to shield consumers, the prices are still increasing. When you compare the cost of electricity in Costa Rica to the cost of electricity in the UK, the United Kingdom’s current electricity costs per 1 KW/h are more than double the current cost in Costa Rica.

Why? While European countries are dependent on petrol for their electricity, Costa Rica is taking advantage of renewable sources of energy. Costa Rica electric grid is 90% renewable so prices have very small variations. Costa Rica’s electricity cost is forecast a year in advance and for 2023 prices will go up a very manageable 2.3%.

The largest source of energy here is hydroelectricity. However, you’ll also find sources of energy from solar power, wind power, and geothermal energy.
